I Love Cataloging
I came from the other side of the world to declare a statement, that I love MARC, I care about AACR2, RDA, FRBR, Dublin Core, GEM, VRA, Semantic Web and in general am passionate about giving the user a perfect arrangement of knowledge.

I want to write
O.K. Here it goes:
I am trying to learn how to put intelligent thought into a paper or a blog, but the road seems to be a little tricky. My friend who is a Writing Center coordinator at my workplace told me to start writing about myself, something similar to a memoir.
My husband also suggested that when I write on a personal note, I am better than writing on an issue or argument.
In this post I choose to write on a personal note, just because I am still under the spell from yesterdays workshop in Ann Arbor.
It was a beautiful sunny day, I dropped my children off to two different individuals, I didn't like it, but I really had to attend this workshop, for which I had registered 2 months ago.
To an immigrant librarian, this workshop was awesome, for the lack of a better word.
There are so many librarians in this world that are "dying" to educate the rest of us, and truth to be told some of them just rocked.
Collaboration among libraries is necessary, just because we are the gatekeepers to the information, that is being challenged by G.A.F.A, as one of the speakers warned.
Have you heard about people who are doers, action takers, and people who like to take action but they won't. Well as sad as it is, as much as I am enthused about the entire workshop, and how powerful is the message from it, there is not much push where I come from. Things move slow in my neck of the woods, and the support for a change is non-existent. Heck, what is the problem?
Feelings of anticipation are always present, these are wrong feelings. These should be replaced by the feelings for action, without a fear of losing your job, maybe.
Oh well, I hope I am making some sense out of it, I will probably find out in 2013.
I will be back before that....no worries.

Saint Patrick
I love Ireland, I am working on my Gale project with Damien Rice keeping me company in the background. Hallelujah is the most sensual, endearing and sentimental song that I had carried in my brain, without knowing who was the true performer of it.

2009 and 2010
2009 and Year of 2010,
Since Chicago, there have been enough action to report on, but failure to commit to writing it had resulted in defragmented reporting.
I got a part time job as a paraprofessional. I like it, but it is not involving one of my passions. (Cataloging).
I was very fortunate to exploit my opportunities in my new workplace, so I was able to provide a speaker on environmental issues in Michigan. I was in 7th heaven.
During the summer, my significant other and I went backpacking on North Manitou island, the paradise of this part of the hemisphere. Went to Freemont for a week, went to relax on Lake Michigan beach.
December brought us to Savannah, GA, St. Augustine, Largo, St. Petersburg, Clearwater etc. FL.
I was offered a contract freelance position for my passion (Cataloging) in January 2010, and I am beyond elated. I hope that this opportunity sticks with me this time.
As for my hobbies, I started knitting, am very interested in Amery Lovins, Stuart Brand, and mainstream cataloging processes.
Hope to write a little more about my profession next time.

Chicago treat

We decided for a spring break to go to Chicago. I could not beleive its size, its residents, its attractions. I loved that in almost every corner you see a recycling bin.
We parked our vehicle in Chicago's commercialized parking places, and for three days we transported ourselves from points A to B and C, by foot, bus or a sub.
Loved it utterly. We stayed in a hotel that was in the heart and the soul of this city. Longed to visit Chicago Public Library, so we explored childrens department. Our children had a priority in this matter.
Sears Tower (it was O.K.), Field Museum (Wow), Shedd Aquarium (without the whales and the dolphins, so so). Asking people for directions to Ed Debeviks-?? (Priceless).
